The OSU Libraries is hiring a motivated Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) to provide research support to the Research and Learning Services (RLS).

GRAs are required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, primarily Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm, but must be able to work some weekend and/or evening shifts until 12 midnight. The position will be paid a stipend of $1,442/month

What You'll Do

  • Respond to research inquiries via library chat and consultations (in person or via Zoom).
  • Assist students and faculty in navigating the library's print and electronic resources.
  • Collaborate with circulation staff to manage the booking of library study rooms.
  • Provide research support to RLS faculty as needed.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be admitted to and meet the requirements of the Graduate College, be fully admitted to a graduate degree program, and be under the supervision of an appropriate graduate faculty member. Excellent communication skills and command of written and spoken English required. Successful candidates must be able to work with a positive attitude towards co-workers and the public. Must be able to work some weekend and/ or evening shifts until 12 midnight. 

This appointment, like all graduate student positions, is subject to satisfactory progress toward your degree, satisfactory performance of assigned duties, availability of sufficient funds, and compliance with all academic Department, Library, Graduate College and University rules, regulations, and requirements. This appointment may be renewed based on those same conditions.

Your 0.50 FTE assistantship requires you to enroll in at least six (6) credit hours of eligible graduate coursework relevant to your degree each semester (fall/spring) in which you have assistantships totaling 0.50 FTE. All graduate teaching and research assistants/associates (GTAs/GRAs) with qualifying 0.50 FTE appointments, such as yours, receive a full tuition waiver for eligible graduate courses; fees cannot be waived. With qualifying GTA or GRA appointments, graduate students are eligible for tuition waivers for the number of graduate credit hours designated in their graduate degree program. In addition to the above compensation and tuition benefit, the single-person health insurance premium will be paid on your behalf, given your qualifying assistantship (at least 0.25 FTE).

Previous work in a library preferred. Consideration will be given to class schedule.
