The Cunningham Architecture Library inside the Donald W. Reynolds Architecture Building is hiring a Library Student Assistant for Summer 2024 and Fall 2024. The student assistant works in conjunction with the Architecture Librarian. This is not a graduate research assistant position or a graduate assistant position.

Hours: 8-10 hrs per week

Beginning May 13, 2024, going through July 31, 2024, the library operates on a summer hours schedule.  Open ONLY Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00AM – to 2:00PM.

Beginning August 1st, the library will be open Monday - Friday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM with an hour closure for lunch 12:00PM - 1:00PM.

Beginning Augst 19th, the library begins its regular semester schedule: Monday-Thursday 9:00AM – 8:00PM, Friday 9:00AM – 6:30PM, Sunday 3:00PM – 8:00PM. Students are scheduled during those times and rotate the Sunday shift throughout the semester.

 

 

 

 

 

 

What You'll Do

  1. Work at information/circulation desk, checking books out and handling returns.
  2. With a friendly and helpful demeanor answer basic reference and directional questions. Refer difficult questions to the Architecture Librarian.
  3. Shelve books using Dewey decimal classification system.
  4. Assist with various library-related projects like inventory & shelf-shifting.
  5. Assist patrons with library computers, printers, scanners, and other equipment.
  6. After training, open, close and work in the library on evenings and Sundays without a supervisor present.

Required Qualifications

      • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a high degree of responsibility by showing up for assigned shifts.
      • Must be able to work with and communicate effectively with the public in person and by phone.
      • Be able to problem solve on the fly to help students with their library-related needs.
      • General computer literacy and previous library experience desirable.

MUST BE ENROLLED AT OSU.  Work Study encouraged.
